Dr. Mohamed Sufiyan Challiwala, a Postdoctoral Researcher in Professor Nimir Elbashir’s research group received the best poster award under the researcher category in the Emerging and Enabling Materials Conference. The conference invited presenters from several countries to present their work on “Water & Environment”, “ Energy Conversion & Storage”, “Biomaterials”, “Oil & Gas”, “ Polymers & Composites”, and “Construction” topics. Several presentations discussed the development of novel approaches and the new advancements in their respective fields pertaining to the use of new and emerging materials. The conference was jointly hosted by Texas A&M University at Qatar and Qatar University from 22nd to 24th November 2021. Dr. Challiwala presented his work on the topic “CARGEN™: A novel technology for the conversion of Greenhouse gases to Carbon Nanotubes and Syngas”. The presentation provided highlights on the work conducted at TAMUQ in Professor Nimir Elbashir’s laboratory for the conceptualization, experimental proof, and scale-up of the novel CARGEN™ Technology. The project was sponsored by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) NPRP X Project (NPRP X-100-2-024).
Er. Gasim Ibrahim, a Ph.D. student from the department also under the supervision of Dr. Nimir Elbashir, got first place in the 1st Energy Education Forum’s poster competition. The forum is co-hosted by Texas A&M University at Qatar and Texas A&M Energy Institue and brought leading academics, policymakers, and industry experts together on the 5th and 6th of December in a hybrid offline/online format. The participants shared insights on ways forward to transform Energy-related education, future-proof Qatar’s and global resources, rethink business education and training practices, and empower the energy sector and industries towards energy transition.
Dr. Hanif Choudhury, Assistant Research Scientist in the Chemical Engineering Program is invited to deliver a Keynote Presentation at the prestigious CHEMCON 2021 conference hosted by CSIR-IMMT and CHEMCON 2021 at Bhubaneswar, India. Dr. Choudhury will present on the thematic area “Sustainable Utilization of Resources for Chemical and Mineral Sectors” at this conference. Dr. Choudhury has an exceptional record of delivering important projects, publications, and patented technologies at Texas A&M University at Qatar since the time he joined Professor Nimir Elbashir’s group in 2015. The conference will be held in India from 27 to 30 December 2021 in a Hybrid Mode.
